Lure Tail Flags (aka Wigs) - no hook, just wire and materials
These make excellent upgrades to most saltwater plugs and can be purchased in a variety of colors.
Most of our tail flags are tied locally here in central CT by a very skilled, and very respected commercial fly tyer and guide: Rich Strolis. These are not some cheaply-made foreign product! Our Bucktail Flags are tied with quality and durability in mind, and are about as bombproof as they come. Tied on the same high-quality hardware we use to build all of our 247 Lures, you can rest assured that you’re getting the very best!
We now also source tail flags from a few other skilled and respected tyers so we can offer some different styles of tail flags. Some are tied with grizzly hackle, some are tied with flash, others are just big and full bucktail flags. Whatever suits you best, we’ll do our best to keep you supplied!
The options listed as just Bucktail are a little more sparce, designed so they don’t impact the action of the plug in any way. The options listed as “Bucktail and Flash” are a bit larger and fuller, when you really want to increase the profile of your plug in the water - great for metal lip swimmers and gliders. The Grizzly Hackle options are the longest flags we have to offer at this time.
***Colors and size will vary slightly because the bucktail material is never exactly the same from tail to tail, and just like our lures these are made by hand. Our supplier does their best to maintain quality and consistent products for us.
**This listing page is for the Bucktail Tail Flags (no hook points), if you’re looking for Bucktail Treble Hooks or Bucktail Single Hooks, there are separate pages for those.
If you are looking to buy in larger quantities, please send us an email and we’ll do our best to make arrangements with our tyer. If you are looking for a fly guide here in Western Connecticut and some amazing trout fishing, reach out to Rich or check out his website: Catching Shadows.
